Henry H. MEANS 78th Birthday

Newspaper article

We had an invitation to be at a dinner given by our esteemed old friend, H. H. Means near Lewis, in honor of his 78th birthday last Sunday, May 4, he having been born May 4, 1812 in Christian County, KY.
He immigrated to Missouri in 1844, first settling in Howard County, coming to Henry the next year. He married Mary E. Fewell of Benton County on Sept. 5, 1844 and they had five boys and three girls, all living as follows: S. A. Means lived in Lewis and is too well known to need comment; Benjamin is a prosperous farmer and stock dealer in Callaway County; Zacariah lives in Nashville, Ill, and is a farmer and contractor; Millard and M. O., the two youngest sons live near the old homestead, farming and mining coal; the daughter Sallie Latta with her husband J. E. being a building contractor; Lou Carroll lives one-half mile from Lewis, her husband, George W. Carroll is mine boss for the Tebo Coal Company.
Mr. Means is in good health and vigorous, can work like a man of 25 and only perceptible failure is his eyesight and hearing.
His wife died Sept. 25 1887.
