- John Means, 96, of 807 East 18th, died Sunday in Alexandria, La., while he was visiting a son.
He was born May 14 1884, in Portland, Mo., son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Coleman Means. On Feb. 3, 1929, he married Hulda Schwermer in Chamois, Mo., she died May 17, 1980.
He was employed as a foreman in the bridge and building department of the Missouri-Pacific Railroad shops for more than 40 years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Brotherhood of American Railway Employees.
